Building on years of innovative and successful delivery of our Outdoor Alternative Education programme we have been working on an exciting new project with Gateacre Secondary School. The project has been funded by the Youth Endowment Fund and Mersey Forest.
A group of 8 Key Stage 3 students have been spending two sessions per week in our immersive woodland camp, engaging in forestry, ecology, construction, woodwork, ground work, cooking and expeditions.
This project has recently been researched by our partners LJMU and University of Cumbria to examine the impact of this outdoor learning on behaviour, attainment and mental health. The research results will inform our future provision and will contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the value of Outdoor Education.
