Forest school

Community by Nature was the pioneer of Forest School in the local area , and has been providing Forest School sessions and practitioner training on Merseyside since 2006.

Forest School is an inclusive, person-centred, holistic learning experience in the natural environment.  Forest School is proven to build children’s self esteem, independence, emotional resilience, team-building and social skills.

Our sessions involve a range of activities including den building, physical games, team games, using tools, building camp fires, woodland crafts, tree climbing. These experiences capture the interest and motivation of children and young people, offering risk and challenge, in a safe environment.

Practical Skills Placement

Have you some students who may benefit from practical placement days?
We deliver a practical outdoor learning programme for young people aged 12-16 who may be experiencing difficulty in mainstream learning or are at risk of under achieving. Click HERE to find out more

Would you like to become a forest school leader?

We provide training in Forest School from introductory Level to Practitioner Leader Level 3. We also provide bespoke programmes devised to meet the needs of different settings and groups for children aged   3 - 16 years.

We can offer one-off taster sessions or a full forest school programme held at your setting or at one of our local woodland venues.  Sessions are available all year round and in all weathers!

Community by Nature embraced the ethics of Forest School back in 2002 and three of our team are qualified leaders and instructors.
You can transform your practice and learn how to plan, resource and deliver your own Forest School Sessions with our Training Qualification.
Our course consists of five days initial training, two onsite skills days plus tutorials and assessments in your own setting.

Places are limited to ten for a low tutor to student ratio, all resources are included including external verifying and the course is accredited by the National Open College Network.

Please contact us for more details and to book on our next course.
