How long have you worked at SPC?
Since time began ..well since 1999! It's been great to see The Play Council develop and evolve.
What are your playwork and/or other relevant qualifications?
Originally I trained as a Primary school teacher in addition I also have a Level 3 in Playwork, Level 3 Forest School Leader and a 7307 Adult Teaching Certificate. I hold TDLB D32 and D33 Assessors Qualifications and Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Award and Health and Safety CIEH.
What is the most fun you have had in your job?
The first time we put our eight metre yurt up, at 8am in the morning, knee deep in mudin a field for a forest school fun day. We were all absolutley caked in mud. We had to beg and borrow hay bales from a local farmer to line the floor of the yurt as it was so muddy - it showed commitment to the cause.
What is the best thing about your job?
The fantastic children and young people we meet through our projects. Usually children who arent as fortunate as most but who appreciate the play opportunities and time and attention they receive from us.
What are you looking forward to doing this year?
What is your favourite game/way to play?
My favourite place to play has always been outside. Being a 70's child I enjoyed a lot of freedom to play with friends, exploring, climbing trees, building den - very much like forest school really!
